Our Process

  • Budgeting

Budgeting for creative projects involves striking a balance between artistic goals and financial limitations. Our job is to find that balance for our clients.

  • Prep

Planning creative projects involves balancing structure with flexibility, allowing room for inspiration while ensuring progress toward a goal. At Chris G TV we believe proper planning is the key to success.

  • Pre-vis Concepts

Sketches, renderings, 3d digital models, and mood boards are some of the tools we use to communicate visual ideas with our clients. The time to dream up ideas and flesh out talking points in a visual medium is one of our favorite parts of the process.

  • Collaboration

Working with the client, other departments, and within our own team is an important part of making sure projects stay on a successful track.

  • Construction

Having a great idea and rendering means very little if it can not be brought to fruition by skilled craftsmen. Having our own fabrication facility means we are part of every step of the process and can troubleshoot as we go.

  • Dressing and Finishing

Working closely with a set decorator and the prop team means the initial vision and budget can be met. Hiring the right team plays a huge roll in meeting the esthetic vision.

FAQs

  • We strongly encourage our clients to make use of our extensive scene dock. This helps keep waste to a minimum and allows for a quicker workflow.

  • We usually build into our estimates labor to dismantle and haul away the set. If we can reuse items and put them into our inventory, we will, saving valuable resources. If custom items are too specialized or have met the end of their life span we can arrange for disposal and will budget accordingly.

  • If you have a drawing with dimensions, that is great; if not, we can provide that service at an additional cost. Once we have an approved design and budget we require a deposit to order materials and begin work.

  • We always try to be flexible with change orders. If we have not started on the particular part of the project and a change is needed, then we are more than happy to make the adjustments and will confirm that it still fits in the financial scope. If the change is later in the process we can provide an updated estimate showing the implications of this on the budget and timeline.

  • Yes, we own our own 5-ton studio box truck, as well as a 14’ stakebed, and have a long-term lease on a 24’ stakebed. Delivery and pickup costs include the truck, the driver, and the fuel.

  • When budgeting for labor, we base our rates on a 10-hour workday. Since we operate on a fixed bid, the labor costs do not change unless there is an approved change order. On top of our rates we do charge an additional 10% on all labor so that we can be in compliance with California law. We provide paid Sick time to all our employees as well offering PTO, a company Health plan and retirement account to our full time staff. This % helps offset some of those costs and keeps our team happy.
