Aleo — Brooklyn Loft Set Design
The Challenge
Director Jon Norlander’s concept for Aleo required a live-action foundation to anchor a VFX-heavy spot. The set needed to feel authentic, cinematic, and flexible enough to integrate with complex post-production work. Producer Ben Murphy at Whiskey Bear brought Chris on to design and deliver a look that could ground the effects without overshadowing them.
The Approach
Chris and his team explored multiple design directions before settling on a Brooklyn Loft aesthetic—warm, textural, and versatile. The scenery was fabricated off-site at Chris G TV Inc. to streamline the schedule. The biggest challenge: installing, shooting, dressing, and striking the set all in a single day. To meet that demand, the team developed a detailed plan, from load-in logistics to camera sightlines, ensuring that no time was wasted on the production day.
The Outcome
The result was a seamless blend of practical environment and visual effects. The loft provided a lived-in realism that gave the VFX space to shine while grounding the story in a tactile, believable world. Chris’s team executed with precision, delivering on time and bringing Norlander’s vision to life with efficiency and craft.
