Fabrication

Notch Party 2023

Production Club tasked us with fabricating the entrance to this event at the LA Memorial Coliseum. The 70' wide facade was fabricated in our Bell Gardens facility then transported in sections and installed on site. An additional 100 linear feet of flats were installed inside with a faux concrete finish, a 20' mobile mini office was converted to a private green room and another 60 linear feet of walls were added to mask the catering area. This massive undertaking produced by "Production Club" involved nearly a dozen vendors providing the tent, staging, lighting, laser effects, catering, star waggons, flooring and decor. It was a lot of fun executing our portion of this and getting to be part of such a huge undertaking.

Target Christmas Campaign

Production Designer Jenny Burton invited us to be part of the 2022 Target Christmas campaign. We built 12 vignettes that were each transformed over the course of a week creating dozens of looks and environments. A combination of new and repurposed scenery was used and we were able to keep all of it out of the landfill.

In N’ Out Christmas Party

Kris Bast Design brought us on to provide numerous elements for this corporate event. Installed at the Long Beach Convention Center over the course of 4 days we provided the following scenery. 240 linear feet of custom railings, a 46’ tall Eiffel Tower made of steel and wood, 150 linear feet of street facade which would be dressed to resemble a Paris street, and a 32’ long “Fleche Rouge” LED sign.

We had roughly 3 weeks in the shop to complete all these pieces and transported them and oversaw all the installation.

Chris G Art Director

Christian brought Chris G on this project to Art Direct and bring his vision to life. We added 300 linear feet of flats to mask the truss, and projection bases inside of the Wisdome 90’ diameter dome. We added 1600 sq ft of steel deck as a base, 400 plus feet of box hedges, 3 5 tons worth of greens, trees, and sod. A laser engraved floor in the shape of an Anc was added just prior to shooting. This was illuminated with pixel tape and able to synch with on stage lighting. We also created several topiary Geese, with wing spans ranging from 5’ to 9’ wide. Only 1 made the final cut.

Moschino “No Strings Attached”

Melanie Jones Production Designer

Melanie hired us to fabricate 2 sets for her “No Strings Attached Project”. The first was a Puppet theater that talent could approach and interact with. This set had to accommodate 2 puppeteers operating multiple marionettes. That set leads us into a 1:3 scale French Salon. The remainder of the film takes place in this world. Occupied by replicas of real life fashion icons, designers, writers, and models. We had 2000 feet of molding, some of which was custom made on our CNC. Numerous arches, a faux marble fireplace and numerous windows throughout. Everything needed to be wild to allow for camera access. There were hundreds of appliqués added through out the set creating a level of detail that help transport the viewer into the world Melanie designed.

Altered Carbon Premier Event

Christian Zollenkopf Art Director

We were brought in to build the scenic elements for the this interactive Netflix premier for the show Altered Carbon. The event encompassed the entirety of Max Sennet Studios. Guest walked through various scenes that reflected the feel and environment of the show from the lab that bodies were reanimated to the hotel and streets the characters live in.

Nutanix

Zach Mathews Production Designer

Zach brought us on to fabricate multiple sets for this corporate branding video. We had roughly 5 working days to get all the parts fabricated and ready to install. The plinko machine was a fun one to work out. The “X” behind the desk was cnc’d and the panel finished at 26’ wide. These large monochromatic sets took on an almost illustrated look to them.

Maxwell Orgall Production Designer

Christian Zollenkopf Art Director

For a series of spots directed by Michel Gondry, Christian Zollenkopf brought us in to build 2 apartment sets. The first a large NY style loft set featured 14’ H walls, a practical stair with birch paneling that opened to reveal hidden storage. The second a tiny 1 bedroom that would eventually have a small car brought in for a shot that had talent go from setting up a crib to climbing in the drivers seat. We also fabricated a 28’ long architectural feature that was installed on location at a Los Angeles storefront.

24/Radix/Nuvo Long Beach Convention Center

Exhibit booths

We fabricated these 3 booths showcasing products and programs from an LA based area dance company. They were all pre built and stood in the shop to insure the could be quickly assembled on site. Each had to fit in a limited area and needed to be self-standing with no rigging points or ground support.

Finish Line Commercial

Itaru De La Vega Production Designer

Itaru De la Vega designed this set for a Finish Line campaign shot in Arizona. We fabricated each shelving unit, the counter and the display cabinets to spec and installed the LED lighting.

Hot Wheels

Michelle Patterson Production Designer

We fabricated the back counters, all the set walls and the custom 6’x10’ center piece which was a giant version of the new Hot Wheels storage tote. Everything was prebuilt in our shop over the course of 4 days and installed in 1 day at a warehouse in Playa del Rey.

Starbucks

Ben Ralston Production Designer

Ben Ralston designed this set for a social media Starbucks campaign. All elements were custom and this “impression” of a Starbucks was a fun one. We fabricated everything in the shop over the course of 3 days, trucked it all in and had a day to install and do all the finish work.

Giant Safe

Rudiger Barth Production Designer

Rudi hired us to bring his monster safe to life. The final piece shipped to be shot in Austin Tx. The door was over 24” deep, the overall casing for the vault door was 8x8. We used 50 plus sheets of laminate to individually wrap each section, and stand off with as few seams as possible.

Knoll Furnishings

Alejandro Cardenas Designer

Alejandro hired us to create multiple pieces for Knoll to hang in their LA and NY show rooms. Each fish was over 7’ tall and was individually wrapped with various upholstery fabric from the Knoll collection. We CNC’d each part then hand wrapped and assembled the fish, crated and shipped the pieces to the show rooms.

Devo Touring Set

Gerald Casale Creative Director

Geri from Devo came up with the concept of a touring set that would act as the “basement” environment for half the show as the band performed their early material. Each section could then open up to create a dynamic change for the second half of the concert which featured their later work. We built each piece with touring in mind and had to come up with carts to allow for easy load in and out of various sized venues.
